Garment workers are the backbone of the fashion industry.
Due to COVID-19, global brands have cancelled existing clothing orders or have negotiated crippling discounts meaning that millions of workers have not received their wages for many weeks or even months. These unpaid wages have compounded the hardship of these workers and their families who live on or below the poverty line.
Many workers around the world often earn below a "Living Wage" and work 6 or 7 days a week for 12 hours, without overtime or bonuses.
It's time to use our power as consumers and demand more of Big Industry to support the people who put clothes on our backs. As consumers we need to back a “Living Wage”.
A Living Wage should be made up of a basic wage before benefits, bonuses or overtime pay, but in many in cases it is not.
