BANKSIA SERIES
My Banksia Series traces the iconic Banksia tree through the Australian landscape, from inland red earth to coastal plains, using a pared-back palette of neutrals and metallic accents to evoke light, texture, and the spirit of place.

My practice is rooted in observation and response — blending gestural mark-making with layered ink, acrylic and metallic gold or copper — to capture form and essence. I am deeply inspired by Chinese ink painting traditions, where landscapes and natural forms are distilled into expressive brushwork and subtle tonal gradations.
Working in this way allows me to connect my own landscapes with a universal language of brush, ink, and contemplation.

The recurring Banksia motif becomes a visual anchor through washes of earthy tones, gold, copper, and silver that shift with the viewer’s perspective, conveying depth and atmosphere.
